The orthopedic team defines the clinical recovery plan. The family still needs to make ordinary life work around it: meals, dressing, bathroom routines, home setup, transportation and periods when the person should not be alone.
START WITH THE DISCHARGE INSTRUCTIONS. Keep mobility restrictions, therapy, medication, equipment and follow-up exactly as the treating team directs.
USE LOCAL HOSPITAL AND REHAB ACCESS. Oro Valley Hospital and Northwest Transitions provide nearby clinical and rehabilitation resources.
MAP THE FIRST WEEK BY ROUTINE. List getting up, dressing, meals, bathroom needs, stairs, appointments and time alone.
KEEP REHABILITATION SEPARATE. Non-medical support must not substitute for physical or occupational therapy.
ASK EXACTLY ABOUT TRANSFERS. Whether a caregiver can assist depends on the transfer, equipment, client condition, training and provider policy.
MEDICATION HELP NEEDS PRECISION. Reminders, assistance and administration are different and should be verified.
PLAN FOLLOW-UP TRANSPORTATION. Dial-a-Ride may help some eligible Oro Valley riders; private-provider driving is a separate policy question.
ESCALATE CLINICAL CHANGES. New pain, wound concerns, weakness or other concerning symptoms belong with the healthcare team or emergency services.
Can home care replace PT? No. Can a caregiver perform transfers? Only if verified. Can a caregiver manage medication? Do not assume so. Which local resources matter? Oro Valley Hospital and Northwest Transitions.
